Yay for Friday!

Thought this was a perfect image for a Friday. Hope you have a great weekend!

It's been awhile

But I went back to my alma mater (GO TRITONS!) during this last pass through Southern California and was excited to see all the additions (and that they have left Camp Snoopi alone) that I had only ever seen the drawings for during my tenure in the Planning Office. By far the coolest thing was the Boulder Teddy Bear in the Engineering Quad for the Stewart Art Collection, the campus' installations of awesome randomness.

Have a rockin' weekend!

L is for...

lame?

I didn't manage to set up a post for today but I will have a very cool "L" plant for you soon. Until then, a cool succulent design with rusty bits.

Summer Fun

Who's ready?

I have been on the looking for a croquet set for a very, very long time. I grew up playing an extremely competitive version with my family and I missed those games. My search started last summer while I was still in New York, I had dreams of picnics and croquet tournaments (everyone must wear white) in Central or McCarren Parks, but I never found the right set. Fast forward a little over a year and my stepmother surprised me with this set. I am totally excited to finally have my picnic and croquet. This is what summer is to me.

Highline Part II

I am living vicariously through friends who have been lucky enough to go and it is really tempting me for a trip to New York.  I haven't been back since moving in November so I am kind of going through withdrawals. Anyway, this will definitely be on my To Go List on the next visit.

Thank you to Mr. C.E. Metcalfe, one great roommate and a pretty darn good photographer who allows me to post his pictures.

Weekend Time

I am a self professed sucker for old and rusty bits and last weekend I finally made it to the Alameda Flea Market. AMAZING!!! I am also easily taken in by turtles (I like to collect the words for turtle in different languages, nerdy: yes). Pelicans are also pretty cool. I had a blast, even if it required me waking up at an uncivilized hour, because there was so much cool stuff. It is usually held the first Sunday of the month and there is coffee available for those, who like me, are not the morningist of butterflies. The next one is July 3rd.

You have two weeks to prepare. Enjoy sleeping in this Sunday because I expect to see You there next Sunday.

Roar 2

It seems like everything these days has a sequel.

Found in a walk over the weekend, our favorite Ocean Beach T-Rex now has a companion in Bernal Heights.

Have a Roaring Weekend!

Bouquets, Boutonnieres and Corsages, Oh My!

I am just getting back from the whirlwind tour de California and flower girl duty. The flowers turned out beautifully and much fun was had building the arrangements. We headed to the LA Flower Terminal on Saturday morning and bought two car loads of flowers to play with. That place is like a candy store and definitely is worth the uncivilized hour at which one needs to arrive to get the good flowers. The accent color was a pale yellow so we picked out some beautiful Ranunculus and Peony then used white Dahlias, Chrysanthemums, Stock, Baby's Breath and Queen Anne's Lace to build the body of arrangements.  We brought all the flowers back to the hotel and in the afternoon the bride and bridesmaids got together for some bouquet making. Fun, girly time was had and the work was done before we knew it. Thank you Mrs. K for providing that idea.

Chuppah Flowers

....and then there were more. In addition to doing the flowers for the wedding party, I also did the flowers for the ceremony. Sadly, I do not know what the woody yellow flowers are (Forsythia?) but the white, airy flowers were Queen Anne's Lace and Baby's Breath and the bright yellow flowers at the bottom were Yellow Chrysanthemums.

To complete my task as Flower Girl, I lined the aisle with White Chrysanthemums and dispersed flower petals along the path. Job Done. Bride satisfied and a great time had. Yay for weddings!

Curious Things

I am off to LA again this weekend so I am posting another picture from a previous trip. I will return with pictures of the wedding flowers and cool landscapes. Happy extended weekend!

Happy Friday!

I am off to LA this weekend for a friend's bridal shower and bachelorette party so I thought I would post some fun pictures from my last trip.

May you all have a lovely weekend. See you next week hopefully with some more fun pictures.

Weekday Walk in Sausalito

I saw this while walking in Sausalito the other day. I would like to think that it was for a particular person and they were very happily surprised. It was a bouquet on the chain link fence and it brought a smile to my face (so much so I had to take a picture) and I thought I would share it and deliver a little happiness to those I care about (that would be You).

Chicks, Chocolate and Peeps!

The chicks said goodbye today, returning to their much more appropriate home and I have to say, I really miss their little chirps. This just means that I will be spending some quality time in Sonoma this Summer and I guess that means with my little brothers too. My mind is already racing with exciting things to do this summer...kayaking on the Russian River anyone? Until then, I am planning on enjoying the rest of Spring and it's celebrations. Happy Easter!

Peep Wreath

So I had this boss who absolutely hated peeps. I loved him and in his honor I made a wreath and will hang it on his door Easter morning. Ssshhh. I might have a slightly naughty sense of humor.  Also amusing is the Peep Show ( http://www.latimes.com/features/food/la-fo-peepart-pictures-2011,0,7657624.photogallery )....It's kind of amazing!

The Picture: I take all of them with my camera phone. I would really like to have a good camera one of these days, but the my phone takes a better picture than my actual camera. I found it looked much better once put through photoshop, not fair and authentic, but much more pleasing. Pardon.

Chicksitting

I find myself chicksitting this week while my brothers are out of town. What they do not know is they might not get them back. You can't help but smile with their sweet little chirps. The curious guy in front is Sparrow.

I figure a little animal husbandry can fit into the garden. These are the miniatures, perfect for a backyard or a little farm along Westside Road.

Flowers for a Wedding

So last year my cousin had a brilliant idea: get all the ladies attending her wedding (it was a small affair) and have them get acquainted with each other while making the flower arrangements for the reception dinner the next day. To say we had fun would be an understatement.  It was such a great afternoon and everyone became more invested in the weekend as a whole after contributing a little of themselves to the celebrations. Here are a few of my favorites:

It was with this experience that my friend later asked me to do the flowers for her wedding. A daunting task because it is such a big day and one wants everything to be perfect and definitely not to disappoint. Miss Sarah's big day is this coming May and I am very excited to see what can be done with all those spring blooms. There will be more to come on this.
